About the Park

Hidden along the Indian River Bay, Holts Landing State Park offers quiet waterfront recreation. Visitors can enjoy the shoreline, intertidal zone, salt marsh, and maritime forest. The Seahawk Trail is completely ADA accessible and provides safe passage through the variety of ecosystems at Holts Landing. A fishing pier and boat ramp greet anglers and other water enthusiasts. Summer concerts are popular at the park while The Grove provides space for outdoor celebrations. A primitive campsite is available for groups.
  • Park History

Holts Landing was originally acquired by the State Highway Department from the Holt family to use for borrow pits – areas where soil and other fill could be harvested – for construction of the state’s highways in 1957. In 1965, the area was taken over by the Parks Commission at just 55 acres and slowly grew in size by land acquisitions through 2009 to its current size of 205.9 acres.

  • Paddling, Picnics and Family Fun

Holts Landing contains a surprising variety of beautiful landscapes, from bay shore beach to grassy fields and hardwood forests, with trails for walking and jogging. The bay waters are great for paddling by kayak or stand-up paddleboard, and wind-surfing is also popular. A pavilion with a nearby fire pit offers is available for group gatherings like family reunions and company picnics. During the summer season, bring the family to enjoy Family Fun Nights and bayside concerts sponsored by the Friends of Holts Landing State Park.
